Retreat Morning
We were lucky enough to work with Frances in her first morning back at school. We learned all about the first five books in the Bible, the beginnings, and worked in groups to represent one story from each of the books in this section to the class. |

Retreat afternoon
In preparation for our new topic ‘Expectation’ and the approaching time of Advent, we spent time with Gabie this afternoon reflecting on the important messages to consider during this time; the word made flesh.
We also created a class advent calendar to open each day throughout Advent. Each door holds an important message, challenge or prayer.

Exploring the Life of a Priest
Year 6 invited Father David into class to help us explore the vocation of a Priest and understand their role more fully.
The children asked many interesting questions and enjoyed learning about Father David’s interesting vocation. Some of the children’s questions included: How did your family react when you told them you wanted to be a Catholic Priest? What was your job before you joined the Priesthood? What is the most challenging part of your job? |
Living out the Gospels in our own lives- making a difference.
Year 6 shared with visitors how they had helped to organise donations of warm clothing and sleeping bags for refugees arriving in Britain.
This effort was led by Vincenzo and inspired one of the visitors so much that they generously donated £200 to support those affected by the immigration crisis.
A very proud moment!

Briars Retreat
A group of Year 6 children had a wonderful time during their residential to The Briars. Set in the Derbyshire Dales, The Briars is a residential youth centre for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nottingham.
Morning prayer; play; confidence building; developing friendships; long walks in the beautiful countryside and taking a shared role in the organisation of mass were just a few of the activities carried out. Over the course of the weekend, the children were encouraged to express themselves freely and openly in an informal but very educational setting. “I was inspired at the Briars by how the leaders explained things. It was funny but respectful. I learnt how to be a good role-model to others by supporting their faith. I felt closer to God during morning prayer. It was special because I don’t normally pray that way”. Kashell, Year 6 |
