Into Film Festival
To celebrate Into Film Festival in November, some children from Year 5 and 6 visited the Broadway cinema yesterday to watch the pupil premiere of the new film 'He Named Me Malala' which tells the tale of a young girl in Pakistan who fought for equality and an education for all. They were also able to see a live question and answer session with Malala Yousafzai herself!
Black History Get Up Stand Up Tour
As part of Black History Week, Year 5 and 6 took part in an audio visual installation at the Galleries of Justice based on global civil rights, justice and injustice.
It took us on a sensory journey through the dungeons, which some of us found a little spooky, to discover about the lives of those involved in civil rights of past and present. We also learnt about Mohammed Ali, and how helped support the rights of black people in America.
This week we have also been lucky enough to taste some authentic Caribbean food that Kady’s dad had cooked for the whole of the class. For most of us it was our first time in tasting salt fish fritters and dumplings, and we thought they tasted yummy!
Allotment
Recently we went down to the allotment to harvest some fruit and vegetables. It was great to actually see the how the crops had turned out as we planted a lot of them last year. We made plum crumble, which was delicious, and the kitchen used lots of the vegetables for school dinners. We all love going to the allotment and getting our hands dirty.
