Y4 Computing
Scratch
Here’s a screenshot of one of our Scratch projects which we created to inform people about the sights of Rio de Janeiro. We used different code blocks, as you can see, and pieced them together to create scripts and algorithms.
LEGO Wedo Dancing Birds
Year 4 have been busy coding using LEGO WeDo models. After having lots of fun building our complex bird models we explored the different commands that we could give the computer to bring the models to life. To make our birds dance, we instructed the computer using time and directional commands. We also added sound effects and text with loops to repeat our commands.
Unplugged Computing
We have been studying how to programme using Scratch. We started learning how to use this computer programme without using a computer—offline learning! Once we learned how to create simple algorithms, we were able to create our own quizzes and publish them online. Long live Scratch!
Probots Activate!
Here are some photos from our work with Probots during the year. We would like to thank Mrs Davison for showing us how to use them to create intricate designs on paper—we even learned something about geometry!
