Year 1 - Literacy
Alien Landing
An alien crashed in year 1 courtyard! It was very exciting and we all wanted to find out all the information that we could. We observed the scene drawing pictures and adding captions, we interviewed an eye-witness and we looked at previous facts about aliens and UFO’s highlighting the relevant information.

Instructions
Year 1 have been learning lots of different text types in our literacy lessons. We have focused on writing instructions and thinking carefully about our verbs and layout. We have written instructions for a range of different activities having first completed them. Here we are making our sandwiches and lanterns.
Autumn Poems
In our literacy lessons we have been using our senses and understanding of the seasons to write poems. We took an autumn walk around our school to see what things we could find. We then used this to help us write an autumn poem.

Traditional Tales
In literacy we have been focusing on traditional tales. To begin the topic we became detectives and we looked carefully at clues to work out what story we had been given.
After, we focused on the story of the Gingerbread Man. We completed role plays as the characters to ensure we knew the story well and we made our own Gingerbread men following the instructions.
