Class Assembly – Celebrations
All the children in F2 performed brilliantly in front of parents, pupils and teachers, in their first class assembly. Our assembly theme was ‘Celebrations’; within this theme we looked at some of the different ways that we celebrate. Some children shared their ‘Proud Stars’; demonstrating and talking about why their families are proud of them.
Another group of children talked about their family celebrations at Christmas and some of the different ways we celebrate as a Church family; they referred to photographs and pictures of these special moments. Esther, Immanuel, Chizzy and Hollie did a short role-play of the story ‘Kipper’s Birthday’, a celebration that all the children had first-hand experience of.
To end our assembly we had a moment of reflection whilst listening to our class prayer about Celebrations and we demonstrated the joy that a celebration can bring when we sang our ‘Celebration Song’.

World Book Day
We celebrated ‘World Book Day’ in style, as we each dressed up as our favourite character from a book or film.

We had a visitor from the library, called Charlotte, who came to do a story telling session with us. We had great fun as we listened to stories, joined in with repetitive phrases and sang songs about ‘The Gingerbread Man’.

Story Telling
We heard the story of ‘So Much’ and practised retelling the story using the characters on our story table. We also practise story telling using the magnetic story boards on the story wall. One of Pop’s challenges was to make the sentence strip ‘I like my mum and dad.’ We had to put the words in the correct order and draw a picture to match. We are practising to point to each word as we read (our teachers call this ‘voice print match’). |

Reading
In our reading area we enjoy sharing stories and finding out new things.
