F1 Communication and Language
Reading in F1
Throughout our time in F1, we continually explore books. We learn how to hold them correctly, turn the pages from right to left and learn the difference between the print and the pictures! In the Spring term we been developing the skill of retelling stories in sequential order and remembering the repeated refrains in Traditional tales. To help us develop these skills we have been using puppets, props, retelling stories using actions and also creating and using story maps! We were also been lucky enough to have a visit from a local librarian who shared with us the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and the Gingerbread Man. |

Literacy Stay and Play
In November, F1 held four Literacy Stay and Play sessions for parents. The parents were given a chance to spend time with their children within the setting, alongside observing the class teacher carrying out a ‘literacy teaching session - reading’ focussing on rhyme and rhythm. The children also received their Book start reading packs.
‘Really useful to know how exactly the children are taught to read. |
